If you follow me on Instagram or have read the blog for some time you will certainly recall seeing the many inspiring homes I share built by Timber Trails Development Company. I do this quite often because I see how much you, my loyal readers, love seeing the homes they build and design, and I am super excited to share their latest project on our “Beautiful Homes of Instagram” series.
Here, the talented interior designer behind this company, Julie Howard, shares some more information about this home:
“The inspiration behind our Timber Trails Casual Elegance was the beachy look of Serena and Lilly but elevated a notch. This home is actually a 1-story style townhouse. The buyer for this spec would most likely be an empty nester looking to downsize to something new and fresh without giving up elegance and style. Our goal was to create a space with attention to every detail that our discriminating buyers would appreciate and enjoy. We teamed with Chicagoland’s, Walter E Smithe to include lots of Palecek’s beautiful furniture when staging the home. This townhouse sold before we even put it on the market, which proves the combination of casual elegance worked!” – Julie Howard.

Details
“We’ve built this plan before without the vault and the kitchen was tucked away where the dining space currently is. With today’s living, people don’t want their kitchen “tucked away”. By pulling the kitchen out and making it the star of the room we modernized the floor plan for how people live today. Keeping the dining area tucked away really works because it encourages intimate family dinners. This space flows so nicely for both day to day living as well as entertaining.” – Julie Howard.

Great Room
“This is one of my favorite family rooms of all time. It is so grand and impressive while still being cozy and inviting. That is a very hard combo to get right. Often times, large tall ceilings will make a space feel grand but you don’t want to spend a lot of time in them. Adding the shiplap and wood to the ceiling and the reclaimed wood beams to the fireplace and hood gave the room warmth and makes it inviting for all. The brass fixtures are an important layer because they elevate the space and stop it from reading as farmhouse.”

“I love how this room turned out. It is in the basement so I thought it was safe to do something fun. There isn’t a window so I wanted something that would make people smile. The floor is a statement piece as well as the blue subway tile in the shower. It’s bold and maybe not appropriate for a master bath where you might spend a lot of time. For a basement bath, though, it couldn’t be more fun!”
